GILLED FUNGI WITH A THICK STIPE
The fungi depicted in this guide generally have a nominal stipe thickness
greater than 5 mm. However, a few species with stipe thicknesses between 4
and 5 mm are included.
Fungi are identified in the field by correlating a number of fruit-body
features; the stipe thickness is one, and another is the spore colour. Fungi in
this guide are grouped according to their spore print colour (Table 1.1).
